Cheryl has said she will call time on her pop career if her comeback single fails to do well in the charts.

The former Girls Aloud star has just released her first single in three years, Love Made Me Do It, and the 35-year-old singer says she is prepared to hang up the microphone if the song isn’t a success.

Speaking to The Guardian, Cheryl said: “If [the single] goes in at 80, it’s time for me to move on with my life. I’m not going to jump around working hard and spending time away from my son for that.

“Is the juice worth the squeeze?”

Cheryl, who recently parted ways with the father of her child, One Direction star Liam Payne, continued to reveal that she’s completely fine if she doesn’t become a chart topper again, adding: “Is it bad if I say that if I get another No 1 that’s great, and if I don’t that’s fine?”

“The bottom line now is this: if I’m not happy with something, and I’m not comfortable, I’m not f**king doing it,” she added.

The singer insisted that the lyrics of her new track aren’t anyone in particular, saying: “Actually all the music and all the songs that I’ve got ready were done way before we split – none of them are about anybody.

“It’s not about one specific person or relationship. It’s more about me being the lover of love that I am. I just love love!”
