Top movie producers today went to a press conference to remain with Anurag Kashyap and support the film “Udta Punjab.” Openly assaulting Censor Board boss Pahlaj Nihalani, who ordered 89 cuts in the film and advised the makers to expel all the references of Punjab from the film, directors and cast of the film raised some substantial focuses on censorship!
We bounce upon the first cut-rundown and it is somewhat frustrating. The censor’s demands are absolutely outlandish and clearly allude to the political pressure.
Apart from 13 categories that exist in the cut-list, here are a portion of the “cuts” that censor board doesn’t need the audience to see.
Take a look!
1.Cut: Delete the billboard of Punjab at the outset
2.Delete the name of cities like Punjab, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Tarn Taran and that’s only the tip of the iceberg (All relevance of Punjab cities used in the dialogues/songs, anywhere in the film should be deleted.
3.From Song Number 1: Name of a Drug (References to drug nowhere)
4.The word ‘Chitta’ from song number 3 should be deleted.
5.Abuses need to be deleted
6.Remove the word elections, MP, party, Party Worker, MLA, Punjab parliament(No references: no govt rep references (38 mins)
7.Melody no:3 Delete the scene of a scratching Sardar.
8.Censor Board needs long disclaimers like: The film focuses on the rising menace of drugs and the war against drugs and is an attempt effects of drugs. We acknowledge he battle against drugs being fought by govt and police but it can’t be won unless people of India unite against this menace”
