With his father in merchant navy and brother a banker, Delhi kid Sidharth Malhotra would’ve perhaps never thought about a career in Bollywood.
A while back, no one would’ve envisioned the performer taking the best of scripts and being cast close by top names. In any case, the enormous the truth is here for all to see. Recollecting his struggling days in the business, Sid says it was scaring and that his job as an actor is no less than a public service.
“I look at it like going to an office. Maybe the people change every day, every hour, and I’m under a lot of pressure; but it’s a job and I don’t take my work home with me. And that’s different from a lot of people I know,” says the model-turned-actor in an interview to GQ magazine.
“Maintaining a successful life within the industry is like walking a tightrope. You can’t believe you’re the biggest because everything will go off balance. My background helps me with that. I can go back to my family in Delhi and see things from the outside. Right now, it’s more about progress than perfection. Who knows when I’m going to hit that level where I get something amazing or make something iconic?” says the 31-year-old.
Much the same as any newcomer, Sid was hopeful. He concedes he wasn’t right in expecting that things would get less demanding. “Every film, you start from zero. We don’t have such a blind fan following,” he says.
