Tabu had first featured with Ajay Devgn in the 1994 superhit Vijaypath which won her first Filmfare Award in the Best Debutant class. The two National Award winners later worked together in upwards of five motion pictures in a course of 23 years. Haqeeqat (1995), Thakshak (1999), Drishyam (2015), Fitoor (2016) and Golmaal Again (2017) were all widely praised movies. In the wake of doing five films and taking a shot at their 6th one in Golmaal Again, they are good to go to work together for the seventh time in a romantic comedy coordinated by debutant Akiv Ali and created by Luv Ranjan (of Pyaar Ka Punchnama notoriety) and Ankur Garg.
A source disclosed to Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a unique rom-com and not a love triangle. Ajay and Tabu are not opposite each other and Luv has written the role with Tabu in mind, believing that only she can play the part. Another A-list actress will be cast as Ajay’s love interest.”
Amid Drishyam, when Tabu was gotten some information about Ajay, she had stated, “Ajay and I grew up together. He was my brother’s buddy and every evening he’d drive up in his open jeep while we sat waiting on the bungalow wall. The camaraderie is the same even today. He’s crazy fun and all heart. With Ajay around, it is always a picnic.”
They are presently shooting Golmaal Again which is up for a Diwali 2017 discharge. Prior, while discussing not marking comic drama movies, Tabu had stated, “If I am doing a certain kind of cinema that does not mean I hate the other kind. People will talk about only what is working and they get stuck with that. Personally, as an artist, I never do any discrimination. If I am offered a ‘Golmaal 4’, I’ll run and do it. How can people make these assumptions about me?”
