Netflix has renewed the sci-fi drama for an eight-episode Season 2, which does not have a premiere date yet. Avengers: Infinity War’s Anthony Mackie will take over for Joel Kinnaman as the lead character Takeshi Kovacs.
Additionally, Alison Schapker (Lost, Fringe) will now serve as co-showrunner alongside Season 1 boss Laeta Kalogridis, with both executive producing as well
Based on Richard K. Morgan’s novel, Altered Carbon is set in a futuristic world where human consciousness can be put into different bodies, or “sleeves.” The story centers on Takeshi Kovacs, whose journey spans hundreds of years, and across different planets and bodies.
“In this new season, Anthony Mackie will be the new embodiment of Kovacs, as the series continues to expand on these deeper themes and ideas across longer periods of times and different worlds throughout the universe,” Netflix said in a statement
